Laolu who is one of the daughters of the late frontline politician,Dr. Tunji Braithwaite just lost her husband,Kitoye Branco-Rhodes. The deceased popularly called KBR reportedly died from Covid-19 complications on Friday.
The late Branco-Rhodes was a former governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democractic Party. He also contested the 2003 governorship election on the platform of Nigerian Advance Party led by his late father-in-law,Dr. Tunji Braithwaite but lost to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Her marriage to Kitoye produced 6 children, Dami, Dara, Fetikemi, TC,Ifeoluwa and Olatunji. And will surely be missed. KBR in 2018, he held a high octane 50th birthday shindig for his wife that drew the movers and shakers of the society.
The late Kitoye Branco-Rhodes is a businessman, energy expert and economist. His father is late Chief Olayinka Rhodes, the Baamofin of Lagos and Baagbimo of Ile-Ife and Chief (Mrs) Elizabeth Abimbola Rhodes (Nee DaSilva, one time Iyalode of Lagos.
His ancestry is triangulated around the famous wealthy Lagos families of Orobiyi-Rhodes, Branco and DaSilva with Brazilian aristocratic and English colonial ties. His father, Olayinka Rhodes was one of the famed ‘Board Members’. In 1989, his mother, Chief Elizabeth Abimbola Rhodes was given the Iyalode of Lagos chieftaincy title, one given to the most prominent and distinguished lady in the town. She held the title till her death in 2013.
