There has been increase in the rate of un-investigated reported and unreported death cases of many Nigerians schooling abroad, majorly in Northern Cyprus.
This was made known by the Nigeria in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), through the CEO/ Chairman, Mrs Abike Dabiri- Erewa. She confirmed this on Monday, August 21st, 2020, in her statement that hundreds of Nigeria students in most of the universities in Northern Cyprus have been killed with no investigation carried out on their death.
This triggered her consciousness when she received the mother of one of the Nigerian student, Ibrahim Khaleel, who was murdered in Northern Cyprus, while the school authority claimed he committed suicide by jumping from the 7th floor of a building. This was disclosed by the mother of late Khaleel who was accompanied by a delegate led by Justice Amina Bello.
The murder of Khaleel , a third-year engineering student in one of the universities in the said country blew the trumpet of the incessant killing of our children out there, Dabiri said. This prompted her to mention some out of hundreds of reported names of students who were also killed, among those that were not reported.
Some of the murdered students names are: Stanley Eteno,Temitayo Adigun,Hassan Babatunde.Augustine Ngok,Kennedy Dede,Gabriel Sorewei, Augustine Wallace, Kubat Abraham and Osanbanjo Owoyale.
She made it known that hundreds of Nigerians who were killed in Northern Cyprus were virtually carried out In the same circumstances, where the school authority will say that the victims committed suicide, and that is all.
It’s so reluctant and a high risk of negligence on the part of the parents of some of the victims, because they failed to report the incident to the appropriate investigative authority.
Report shows that there are some forces behind the killing of blacks in Northern Cyprus, majorly student, which is becoming too rampant, and Nigerians are their major target. So, no Nigerian parent should send their children to any university in Northern Cyprus she insists.
She promised to release the list of names of students killed in Northern Cyprus which died down without prosecution or compensation anytime soon.
She acknowledged that khaleel’s case has been transferred through the office of the attorney general of the federation to the INTERPOL, as she guaranteed his mother justice. Not just on Khaleel, but also on other students who were murdered too.
The Nigerian University Commission has been written to by our commission, in order to blacklist Northern Cyprus Universities from enrolling any Nigeria citizen into their schools, because research as proved it that most of the courses studied in the said country are not accredited. So, such courses certificates must be blacklisted from Nigeria.
NIDCOM reported the cases to the Ambassador of Turkey in Nigeria, A.Melih Ulueren, which he said he is not aware of the incident. He promised to investigate the matter.
Abike, speaking in depress advised that all Nigerians abroad should deem it feet to report all unsatisfactory situation to the Nigeria mission to cub often occurrence of this killings. And also implore them to please stay away from trouble or anything that will paint Nigeria Red in the face of the world.
The mother of the deceased said that the autopsy she requested for in past seven months has not be submitted, while the school still maintain their stand that he committed suicide by jumping from 7th floor of a building. Meanwhile, no cut or injured part on his body to show that he truly fell from the building.
NIDCOM chairman Abike Dabiri, has agreed that their Commission will visit Northern Cyprus for further investigation immediately after the ease of covid-19 saga.
