The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, alongside the five other Local Government Chairmen within the federal constituency, hosted stakeholders from Lagos West at the Multi-purpose Hall of Alimosho Local Government on Thursday, 26 March, 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Rabiu Olùwa, brought together prominent leaders from Lagos West, including Chief Henry Ajomale, Dr. Abdul Lateef Ibirogba (South West Organising Secretary of the party), Chief Sunday Aboyade (Lagos West Vice Chairman), and Hon. Afolabi Dada, who oversees the affairs of persons living with disabilities, among other distinguished dignitaries.

In his address, Chief Oluwa explained that the stakeholders’ meeting is designed to rotate across all local governments in Lagos West. According to him, the initiative aims to foster direct engagement with party members and gather first-hand insights into developments within each council area, thereby strengthening unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He emphasized the urgent need for cohesion within Alimosho, describing unity as a critical factor for the party’s continued success. Referencing a recent visit by members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he revealed that concerns about the state of unity in Alimosho were the first issue raised by the President. He noted that if the President is concerned about unity in Alimosho, local leaders must rise to the occasion and work collectively to address it.

Chief Oluwa further stressed that presenting a united front would provide the party with a strategic advantage in the 2027 elections, urging members to remain mindful of opposition dynamics. He described leadership as a call to responsibility and encouraged party leaders to meet expectations by promoting inclusiveness and avoiding marginalization, noting that sustainable growth depends on broad-based participation.
He also advised party members to remain calm, stating that candidates for upcoming elections—including those for Governor, Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly—will emerge through processes determined by the party at the appropriate time. He cautioned against actions capable of overheating the political atmosphere.
In conclusion, he charged stakeholders across all local governments to ensure that credible and widely accepted candidates emerge to represent the party in the 2027 general elections.
