A Commissioner in the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Honourable Hakeem Bamgbola has congratulated the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa on his endorsement and subsequent re-election as the Speaker of the 10th Legislative Session of the Assembly.
Bamgbola, former Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area and ex-Secretary of Conference 57, umbrella organisation of council Chairmen, also congratulated newly sworn-in members of the state House of Assembly who were inaugurated on Tuesday, 6 June, 2023.
Speaking via a statement released on Tuesday, 6 June, 2023, Hon. Bamgbola described Rt. Hon. Obasa as the best choice for the Speakership of the House of Assembly at this critical point in the state democratic venture judging from his antecedents as a core progressive, believer in the ideals of the All Progressives Congress, strong advocate of Legislative Independence, and a veteran who has used his vast legislative experience to bear on the progress that Lagos State has experienced in the last 20 years.
“Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, in my patriotic view, is the best that Lagos State can rely on to deliver on the legislative agenda required to drive the “New Lagos Rising” mantra of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu’s administration, while adding that in the last 8 years, he has been able to maintain legislative stability and sustain absolute peace and maximum cooperation with the Executive arm of Government.
“His experience in the last 20 years and the maximum respect and acceptance that he enjoys among his old colleagues and the newly elected legislators cannot be wished away at this moment.
“It is common knowledge and a sacred fact that the success of every Legislative arm of Government rests on the years of experience acquired in the process; this is a huge plus for Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, as he knows the right path to tread in galvanising the legislative apparatus of Government towards assisting Governor Babajide Sanwoolu in delivering on his renewed promises to the good people of Lagos State,” Bamgbola said.
He urged the newly inaugurated Lawmakers to work in harmony with the Executive arm of Government to ensure a peaceful and progressive governance for the state.
