The Lagos state football teams to the ongoing 9th National Youth Games started on the front feet on Saturday, 30 August, at the St Patrick College field in Asaba, Delta State, reports thegazellenews.com.
The boys team walloped Yobe 4-0 while the girls’ team beat Bayelsa 2-0

With first half goals from Awwal Abeeb gave the boys from Centre of Excellence two goal lead going into second half.
Joseph Micheal and Amodu Samuel added a goal each to give the Coach Adeshina Yusuf led team their first three points in group D that had the host. Delta and Nasarawa state in the group.
The Lagos boys will battle their host, Delta state, on Sunday, 31 August, 2025, at the same venue by 3:00 pm.
The girls team also started on a positive note beating Bayelsa state by 2 unreplied goals from the boots of Kemi Adegbuyi and Rafiu Tosin.
Speaking after the match, the head coach of the team, Coach Adeshina Yusuf, praised his wards for sticking to their game plans, urging to remain focused on the task ahead.
The Chairman of the Lagos State FA, Haji Gafar Liameed, also expressed satisfaction over the results, calling it impressive.
While charging the team to remain focused, he revealed that their efforts will be adequately rewarded.
