A 24-year-old man named as Wisdom Onyeaju has been arrested by the operatives of the Imo State Police Command for allegedly defiling oa 15-year-old girl that recently went viral on social media, thegazellenews.com reports.
The arrest came days after a video posted on January 3 by the victim’s sister went viral, detailing how the suspect allegedly forced his way into the girl’s home during the Christmas period, threatened her with a knife and assaulted her.
The Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, who confirmed the development through a statement issued on Thursday, 8 January, 2026, said that “Onyeaju, a 24-year-old male of Umuekweye, Irete, Owerri-West Local Government Area, was arrested in connection with an alleged case of defilement.
“The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing thorough investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
“Upon conclusion of investigation, he will be arraigned in court with the appropriate charge(s),” the state police image-maker said.
