An 80-year-old Colombian man named Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, was found dead in his room at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac Town, Lagos State.
The lifeless body of Mr Alfonso was discovered at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, 1 May, 2025 in Room C85, located on the 8th floor of the hotel.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development, said homicide detectives and other officers were immediately dispatched to the scene following a distress call.
According to Hundeyin, preliminary police investigations revealed that the deceased had been residing at the hotel for over four months. No visible signs of violence or foul play were observed on the body, according to police sources.
The corpse has since been transferred to the Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba, where it is being preserved for autopsy. A coroner’s inquest has also been initiated, alongside other legal procedures.
The state police image maker added that as part of the investigation, some members of the hotel’s management were temporarily detained for failing to maintain proper guest records. They were released after being questioned by authorities.
Hundeyin assured the public that it is continuing a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of Mr Alfonso’s death.
