In continuation of his engagement with strategic stakeholders in Lagos Central Senatorial District, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate for the District in the forthcoming general elections, Rt. Hon. Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni, met with leaders of Eti Okun Communities and residents of Abraham Adesanya Estate on Saturday, 28 January, 2023.
At the meeting, he got the assurance of massive votes from the residents having been adopted as their candidate. His endorsement, according to the residents, was based on his display of uncommon humility, being the first high ranking political office seeker to ever visited them.
At the engagement with the Eti Okun Communities, leaders lamented government’s neglect despite their support for the Progressives. “It’s rather unfortunate that our support for the APC has not been reciprocated by the government in terms of infrastructure development,” they said.
However, they expressed gratitude to Chairman of Eti Osa East LCDA, Hon. John Campos, for changing the narrative, when he commenced the rehabilitation of their main road with interlock paved stones. Although, still far from being completed, the road rehabilitation has brought temporary succor to the inhabitants.
Their Baales, led by Chief Wasiu Balogun, Baale of Lafiaji and Chairman of Baales in the LCDA, while appreciating Rt Hon Eshilokun-Sanni for honouring their invitation, urged him to come to their aid in solving their most urgent needs: access roads, ensuring constant electricity supply and more importantly, checking the ocean surge that threatens their existence. They lamented that Okun Alfa had been submerged by the surge.
Responding, Rt Hon Eshilokun-Sanni promised to help address their challenges. He stated that he doesn’t make empty promises enjoining the L.G. chairman to see the commendation given him as a spur to do more work; while promising to support the LCDA effort on road rehabilitation by allocating a percentage of his expected constituency project to funding it.
He promised to help address the problem of ocean surge by attracting Federal and International attention to the problem and seek the application of ecology fund to address it.
At the engagement with residents of Abraham Adesanya Estate, the story was not very different.
Speakers at the parley, complained of lack of government presence in terms of infrastructure development in their area.
However, the Local Government Chairman debunked the claim listing many government projects that the residents are currently benefitting from, though he agreed that the there is still room for improvement.
