The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Thursday, 16 March, 2023 embarked on a ward-to-ward campaign for the Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni ahead of the Saturday polls.

Buni who was first elected as Governor in 2019 is seeking mandate of the people of Yobe for a second term as their Governor on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Lawan, a very close ally of Governor Buni, embarked on aggressive campaign across his Yobe North Senatorial District to return Buni for a second time and also for all APC candidates for the State House of Assembly.

Shortly after his re-election last month for a fifth term in the Senate,  Lawan began intense consultations with his constituents in Yobe North ahead of this Saturday Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Lawan met with the Youths and key stakeholders of the APC in his Local Government of Bade last week and this week he embarked on ward-to-ward campaign.

On Thursday, Lawan visited Dumsai/Dogon-Kuka ward in Nguru Local Government Area, Jajimaji in Karasuwa LGA and ended up in the night at Jakusko LGA.

Addressing party supporters at Dumsai/Dogon-Kuka  ward, Lawan first thanked them for their massive votes during the elections of February 25th and asked for more this Saturday for Governor Buni and the State House of Assembly candidate of APC.

“This ward is a very important ward in this zone. This particular ward did exceptionally well in the last election. What you did in the last election is something I’m proud of.

“I thank you immensely. However, we want more of such votes in this Saturday election. I want you this time around to double the votes you gave me.

“This is a very important ward. The fact that I’m not the one standing for election should make no difference.

“I’m here to canvass for votes for APC and I’m also pleading that you should vote for Governor Mai Mala Buni and Ahmed Lawan Mirwa who is running for the State House of Assembly because Governor Buni will need members of the State Assembly in the running of his administration.

“On Saturday, our own Governor and our APC candidates for the State House of Assembly are the people to return elected by the grace of God.

“We should see their election as our joint project and this will rub off on our integrity and the integrity of this ward as well. Nothing Should stop us from delivering this ward for APC,” Lawan said.

The Senate President spoke in similar vein to party supporters at Jajimaji in Karasuwa and Jakusko LGAs.

“Karazuwa is right in the heart of this zone. Therefore you shouldn’t joke with this Saturday election. You should make a resounding statement with your votes.

“We should vote our incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Hon Mai Mala Buni. Then Adamu Dala Dogo for State House of Assembly.I also think the Jajimaji ward will compete very well with other wards in this zone by trooping out en masse to cast your votes,” Lawan said.

The Senate President made similar appeal at Jakusko for Yau Dachia who is also contesting for the State Assembly.
