Tragedy occurred on the evening of Saturday, 14 September, 2024 as a hit-and-run driver killed an unidentified person at Onipanu Bus Stop, Fadeyi, along Funsho-Williams Avenue, Lagos.

The incident was said to have happened around 8:15pm, and despite efforts to save his life, the victim died.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, confirmed that the victim died while receiving urgent medical treatment at the Trauma Centre in Gbagada.

According to him, upon arriving at the scene, the LASEMA Response Team found that an adult male had been hit by a vehicle with an unknown registration number, and the driver had fled the scene.

He added that the victim sustained head injuries and received urgent medical attention from LASEMA’s Paramedics before being transported to the Trauma Centre for further treatment but died shortly afterwards.

“The LASEMA team bagged the victim’s belongings and handed them over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU, office at Bolade Bus Stop for further action,” Oke-Osanyitolu stated.
