At least three persons reportedly died and 14 more were injured in a ghastly motor accident in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

It was gathered that the incident happened when a moving J5 vehicle hit a parked Dangote trailer along old Gwaram Road.

Jigawa Police Command Public relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam also confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen.

According to the statement: “Police on Tuesday at about 6:30 pm received a report that a J5 bus with registration No. KTG 196 XC, driven by one Wada Shuaibu of Laya village, Gwaram LGA, conveying 17 passengers from Sara market heading to Laya village, had an accident.

“On reaching Kwanar Mangwarori along old Gwaram road, the driver hit an empty Dangote trailer with registration No. BNK 447 XA, coming from old Gwaram to Kano State.”

He said as a result of the incident, the occupants of the J5 bus were injured to varying degrees.

DSP Shiisu Adam said on receiving the report, a team of policemen went to the scene and evacuated the victims to Gwaram Cottage Hospital for medical attention.

He said three of the victims died while others are still receiving treatment in the hospital.

After they were certified dead, the corpses of the deceased were released to their families, he added.

The police spokesman further said that an investigation has been launched and efforts are underway to locate and arrest the driver.
