The Oyo State Police Command has intervened in the controversy surrounding the burial arrangements of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, following disagreements involving his wife, father and associates.

The parties signed a peace undertaking on Tuesday, 3 November, 2026, at the Police Command Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, agreeing to maintain peace and refrain from actions capable of escalating tensions over the late singer’s burial.

Those involved were: Toluwanisings’ wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Muniru Olayemi; and associates: Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Lawal Ademola Rafiu.

According to the police, the parties were invited by the state Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, following concerns over allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character and conduct capable of causing a breach of the peace.

As part of the agreement, the parties undertook to maintain peace and good behaviour, discontinue public exchanges and interviews, and refrain from circulating allegations or publications capable of escalating tensions.

The undertaking also covers content shared through social media platforms, blogs and other communication channels. The Commissioner of Police warned that anyone found engaging in conduct capable of disrupting public peace or committing an offence would be arrested and prosecuted.

The police intervention follows disagreements over the burial arrangements of the late singer. His father reportedly proposed that Toluwanisings be buried either at the house he built or beside his late mother in Osun State, while his wife was said to have opposed burying him at their home. The disagreement attracted public attention, with the singer’s family, widow and associates becoming subjects of discussions and reactions across social media.

Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on Wednesday, 14 October, 2026, after reportedly slumped. His death also generated controversy following allegations that several hospitals turned him away while efforts were being made to secure emergency medical attention.

The latest police intervention is aimed at preventing further escalation of tensions among the parties as arrangements surrounding the late gospel singer’s burial continue.
