The profile of the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the Senate, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule, continues to rise in the Red Chamber, not only for eloquent contributions to debate on the floor of the Chamber but also for active and effective deliverance of her legislative duties.
Not only this, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos is not only excelling on the floor of the Red Chamber but she is also delivering on her mandate to the people of her Senatorial District.

Just recently, Senator Adebule spoke extensively on the floor of the Chamber why there is need to speed rehabilitation works on some critical Federal roads in the country. Of particular importance to Senator Adebule, is the Lagos-Badagry Expressway in her Senatorial District. The road is the gateway to other countries as it linked the country with neighbouring countries like: Republic of Benin, Togo and Ghana and other countries in the western coast of Africa.
According to Adebule, the road is of high economic importance to Nigeria, “huge revenue is accrued from the road particularly at Seme border which is one of the most active and economically-viable borders in Nigeria. If the major road leading to this highly critical economic enclave is bad and not motorable, then the amount of revenue lost can be imagined”.

This was just one of the various robust debates, Senator Adebule had contributed to on the floor of the Red Chamber.
The former Deputy Governor of Lagos State also has the distinguished honour of being one of Nigeria’s representatives at the parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) where her contributions on the floor of sub-regional parliament has been described as highly impressive.
As a member of various committees of the Senate, Senator Adebule has received commendations from colleagues and staff of the National Assembly for her Incisive contributions to committee works and making herself available for various oversight functions and duties.
For emphasis, Senator Adebule is a member of the following Senate Committees: Constitution Review, Senate Service, Women Affairs, Privatisation, Banking, Finance and other Financial Institutions, Customs and Excise, Marine Transport and Blue Economy, Science and Technology, Downstream Petroleum and Local and Foreign Debts.
As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Investment and Poverty Alleviation, Senator Adebule has led with panache, experience and humility and the result was the success of the various poverty alleviation, palliatives and other social intervention programmes of the Tinubu administration.
Among active parliamentarians, Senator Adebule has not been found wanting.
She has proven to be active positively on the floor of the Chamber initiating bills and motions and contributing incisively to discussions on various subjects.
To date, Mama West as she is popularly called has proposed a ‘Bill for an Act to amend the Compulsory Universal Basic Education Act, Cap 4, Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004’. The Bill meant to improve and make basic education more conducive for pupils and teachers has got to Second Reading in the Senate.
Senator Adebule has also initiated a ‘Bill for an Act to Amend the Proceeds of Crime Recovery and Management Act No 16, this was done 13 February, 2024.
An advocate for equal opportunities for the male and female genders, she also initiated a ‘Bill for an Act to enact Gender and Equitable Opportunities 2024’, initiated on 20 March, 2024.
Apart from all these, Mama West has also initiated a ‘Bill for an Act to Amend Sheriff and Civil Process Act Cap S6 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004’, initiated on 8 May, 2024.
A lover of education as a tool for engendering development and growth of the nation, Senator Adebule also successfully moved the motion for ‘Compelling need to Tackle the Challenge of Out-of-school Children’.
Indeed, Senator (Dr) Idiat Oluranti Adebule has been making waves in the Red Chamber and the sky is the beginning for our dear Mama West.
To the delight of her constituents, Senator Adebule has not excel in the Red Chamber alone. She has continued to make her impact felt by the people of the Senatorial District she is representing at the National Assembly.
It is noteworthy to state here that Mama West as a lover of education gave Aminat Yusuf, LASU Best Graduating Student, N1 million in appreciation of her excellent performance in the citadel of knowledge.
She has also distributed bags of free fertilisers to farmers in Lagos West Senatorial District.
A lover of youths, Mama West has facilitated fish-farming training for more than 200 youths in the Senatorial District. This took place at the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research in March, 2024.
Mama West has gone further to distribute food palliatives to 10,000 households and families in the Senatorial District while rice and other edible foods were being distributed regularly at festive periods.
Mama West has also been able to facilitate and organise training in security and community relationship for traditional rulers in the Lagos West Senatorial District. She was also able to facilitate provision of tools for traditional rulers.
A lover of youths, various training and empowerment programmes have been organised for more than 1000 youths in the Senatorial District while essential food items have been supplied to the Vulnerable Persons and families in the Senatorial District.
Above are projects that have been completed, there are many other ongoing projects and programmes.
Part of these include the procurement of medical tools to hospitals in the Senatorial District. Medical tools and gadgets are being provided for the Physically-challenged in the Senatorial District.
There have been massive construction of market stalls across the District while the construction of a massive skill acquisition centre is ongoing in Mushin.
One of the major projects of Mama West is the completion of the Badagry Youth Development Centre which has been abandoned for years. Works has commenced on the project and very soon, it will be completed and put into use.
There has been consistent medical outreach for constituents in the Senatorial District while a comprehensive health centre is being constructed at Igbolobi.
Currently, Mama West’s Light-up Project is ongoing with massive construction of street-lights going on across the Senatorial District.
Mama West is really loving up to expectations and the people of Lagos West Senatorial District are loving it.
