Three operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) sustained gunshot injuries during a raid in the Jahi area of Abuja on Thursday night, 17 April, 2025, reports thegazellenews.com

The officers were attacked by armed men as they exited an uncompleted building where the operation had taken place.
According to Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy, NDLEA, the team was acting on intelligence and surveillance reports when they stormed the building in the NNPC area of Jahi. The raid led to the recovery of 74 bottles of codeine, 10 litres of codeine syrup, 48 grams of tramadol 225mg, 4.9 kilograms of skunk (a strain of cannabis), and five android phones.

However, as the operatives were leaving the scene, unidentified gunmen opened fire on them, leaving three officers injured. One was shot in the rib, while the other two sustained injuries to the back and leg.
The wounded officers were initially stabilized at the Police Clinic in Garki Area 1 before being transferred to the National Hospital, Abuja, for further treatment.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), who is currently on official duty in Kano, expressed gratitude to the staff of the Police Clinic and the Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital for their prompt medical support. He also spoke with the injured officers via phone, wishing them a speedy recovery.
Marwa assured that the agency, in collaboration with other security forces, would use all means available to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
