After a 20-year-old woman died suddenly while travelling on a long-distance bus, with dozens of iPhones later discovered glued to her body, authorities in Brazil have launched full scale investigation into the development, reports thegazellenews.com

The incident, it was gathered, occurred during a trip from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo.

According to reports, the young woman began experiencing health complications while the bus made a scheduled stop at a roadside restaurant in Guarapuava, located in the central region of Paraná State.

Emergency services were called when the woman reportedly complained about breathing difficulties. Responders from the Mobile Emergency Care Service attended to her at the scene.

“She was treated by Mobile Emergency Care Service workers, who said she was awake but struggling to breathe. Shortly afterwards, she began to show signs of respiratory distress and appeared to suffer a seizure.”

Despite efforts to revive her, which lasted for 45 minutes, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Paramedics attempted to revive her for 45 minutes, but she was declared dead at the scene.”

While administering aid, medics noticed unusual bulges on her body and uncovered several packages strapped to her skin. Upon closer inspection, authorities found a total of 26 iPhones taped directly to her torso.

“It was while trying to treat her that medics noticed several packages attached to her body. Police later discovered 26 iPhones had been glued directly to her skin.”

The Military Police responded to the discovery and contacted both forensic and civil investigators. A sniffer dog brought in to check her belongings did not detect any narcotics, but officers did seize multiple bottles of alcohol from her luggage.

“A sniffer dog did not detect any drugs on the woman, but several bottles of alcohol were found in her luggage and seized.”

The Paraná Civil Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing and forensic tests are being carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

“The Paraná Civil Police are investigating the case and awaiting the conclusion of forensic reports to clarify the cause of death.”

“According to preliminary information, the woman, who was alone, was travelling from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo.”

“The 26 cell phones that were glued to her body were seized and sent to the Federal Revenue Service.”

As of now, her identity has not been disclosed to the public. The motive behind the smuggling attempt, if any, remains unclear.
