Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area held the 21st edition of the 2025 Spelling Bee Competition on Wednesday, 24 September, 2025, at the council secretariat, in Ijora reports thegazellenews.com
The Chairman of the council, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, in his welcome address, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the development of education in Apapa Iganmu LCDA.

He stated that his administration has distributed hundreds of free G.C.E forms to indigent students while also assuring that the administration will soon distribute free JAMB forms to students in the council area as well as sponsor the education of indigent but brilliant students in the council up to tertiary education level.
“Therefore, I want to urge you all to face your studies and ensure that you don’t join bad gangs. Our administration is ready to support you and improve the education sector of this council.

“While we are doing our own to make access to education easy for you, the only way you can reciprocate is by facing your studies and ensure that you excel in your education,” Honourable Saliu advised the students.
The Chairperson of the council, Mrs Modinat kikelomo Jimoh advised the teachers and parents to generally put in more effort in the grooming their students and wards.
“To our parents and teachers, thank you for your love, guidance, and sacrifice because without you, our children would not be standing tall today. As I look at the bright and eager faces of our children, I see hope, promise, and the future of our community shining.
“This competition is not just about spelling words but, about building confidence, discipline, and the courage to stand before others and shine.
“Our children should remember that, no matter the outcome of today contest, you are special, talented, and your dreams are valid. Keep working hard, believe in yourselves, because the future will reward your efforts,” she stated.
The competition eventually produced winners: in Primary School category, Adetayo Aminat and Mustapha Sodiq both from David Salvage Primary School came first and second respectively; while Nworie Prince came third.
In the Secondary School category, Ibrahim Hussein and Akeem Raji both from Araromi Senior Secondary School came first and second respectively while John Grace Amarachi from Sari Iganmu Senior Secondary School came third.
