The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has inaugurated the Alimosho Local Government Boundary Committee at the Council Secretariat Conference Hall, Akowonjo, Lagos.
The event, held on Thursday, 13 November 2025, marked a significant milestone in the council’s ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence, administrative order, and community development within the largest local government in Lagos State.

In his address, the Chairman described the inauguration as a purposeful step toward reinforcing responsible governance and community harmony. He emphasized that boundaries should not be viewed as lines of division but as lines of definition — silent architects of peace and order. “Good fences make good neighbors,” he said, noting that clear boundaries prevent conflicts and foster cooperation among communities.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Deputy Governor for revitalizing boundary administration across the state. He lauded the directive to resuscitate local boundary committees, describing it as a visionary act aimed at preserving communal peace and stability across all local governments in Lagos State.

Highlighting the committee’s mandate, the Chairman explained that the body is empowered by the Lagos State Boundary Committee Law of 2009 to resolve inter-community disputes, identify potential flashpoints, and promote peaceful resolutions through dialogue and diplomacy. He charged members to approach their duties with fairness, integrity, and wisdom, stressing that their appointment was “a trust of responsibility, not a title of privilege.”

He further urged the Committee Chairman, Hon. Francis Adebisi, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the local government, to ensure that the team works closely with traditional rulers — who are royal members of the committee — as well as with community development associations and neighboring councils to ensure effective collaboration. He invoked the Yoruba adage, “Agba kii wa loja, ki ori omo tuntun wo” — meaning, “When elders are present, a child’s head cannot go crooked” — urging the committee to combine the wisdom of elders with administrative diligence to achieve lasting peace.
In attendance at the meeting were: Dr. Idowu Banjoko, Council Manager; Oba Ahmed Omogoriola Laka 1, Elegbeda of Egbeda Kingdom; Oba Nasiru BabaTunde Ogunronbi, Onishasha of Shasha Kingdom; Oba Akeeb Rafiu Adebowale, kAlaye of Orisunbare; and some members of the Alimosho Management Team who are part of the committee.
