Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Shehu Buba, has distributed 16,200 bags of rice to constituents across the zone as part of efforts to cushion the impact of economic hardship during the ongoing Ramadan fast.

Speaking during the distribution exercise in Bauchi on Tuesday, 24 February, 2026, Senator Buba explained that the gesture was aimed at alleviating the suffering of less privileged families grappling with rising food costs.
The lawmaker said the intervention was targeted at vulnerable groups, noting that the holy month demands compassion, support and shared sacrifice.
“This initiative is to support our people, especially the vulnerable, so they can observe Ramadan with some level of comfort and dignity,” he said.
He appealed to beneficiaries to remain calm and orderly throughout the exercise, assuring that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to prevent overcrowding and ensure a hitch-free process.
Security personnel were deployed to the distribution centres to maintain law and order as residents turned out in large numbers.
Our Correspondent gathered that allocations were also extended beyond Bauchi North, with each local government area in the two other senatorial districts of Bauchi State receiving a share of the rice consignment.
Residents who spoke to our correspondent at the event commended the senator for the timely intervention, describing it as a relief amid prevailing economic challenges.
