Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has received the Emir of Gombe, Alh. (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, on a traditional sallah homage for this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration at the Government House.

The visit, which is an age long traditional practice in the state, provides an opportunity for the revered monarch to felicitate with the Governor and the people of the state on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, while also strengthening the bond between the traditional institution and the government.

In his remarks during the homage on Sunday, the Emir expressed deep appreciation for the purposeful leadership demonstrated by Governor Inuwa Yahaya over the years, noting that under Inuwa’s leadership Gombe has witnessed unprecedented development across all sectors.

“I am proud of you, Your Excellency. Your leadership has brought remarkable transformation to Gombe State. Frankly speaking, since the creation of the state, we have never witnessed this level of development until the coming of your administration”, the Emir stated.

He also recalled the Governor’s pledge at the outset of his administration, noting with pride that he has not only fulfilled those promises but has exceeded the expectations of the people.

“You made a promise to the people of Gombe that you will not fail them, and today, it is evident for all to see that you have kept to your word. I am proud of you, and so are the people of this state.”

The monarch also commended the Governor for promoting peace and unity, as well as for his inclusive style of governance especially that traditional institutions have been carried along in the business of governance.

The Traditional Ruler used the occasion to reel out Governor’s sector-by-sector achievements, particularly in health, infrastructure, education, energy, industry and economic development, as well as his deliberate efforts to extend meaningful development to underserved communities across the state.

He also commended the Governor for transforming Gombe into a modern and aesthetically appealing city, now emerging as a hub for tourism.

His Highness made particular reference to landmark projects such as the upgraded Government House, the Airport, the Three-Arms Zone, the Shehu Abubakar District, among numerous other developments across the state.

Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to the monarch for the visit and for his consistent support, prayers and guidance to his administration.

The Governor noted the cordial relationship between his administration and the traditional institution, particularly the Gombe Emirate Council, describing it as a critical pillar in the successes recorded by his government.

“Our relationship with the traditional institution, especially with His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gombe, has been very cordial and productive. I deeply value the counsel, support, and cooperation we have continued to receive, which have greatly contributed to the peace and development of our dear state”, the Governor said.

Reflecting on his stewardship over the past seven years, Governor Inuwa Yahaya noted that his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development, with significant strides recorded in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and economic reforms.

“In the last seven years, we have worked tirelessly to reposition Gombe State and put it on the path of sustainable development. We came with a clear vision to rebuild and transform our state, and today, we can confidently say that we have made appreciable progress across all sectors”, he stated.

The Governor assured that his administration remains committed to leaving behind enduring legacies that will stand the test of time and continue to benefit future generations.

“Our goal is not just to execute projects, but to build lasting legacies that will continue to impact positively on the lives of our people long after we have left office.”

On security, Governor Inuwa Yahaya reiterated that the safety of lives and property will continue to be the topmost priority of his administration.

The Governor also used the occasion to call on the people of the state to sustain the spirit of unity, toleranceand peaceful coexistence exemplified during the Ramadan period.

The visit was crowned by the symbolic presentation of the traditional Sallah gift (Goron Sallah) to the Emir by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, followed by a colourful durbar procession featuring the Emir and an array of traditional title holders.
