The Osun State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has distanced itself from a purported letter claiming the party adopted the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) ahead of the Saturday, 15 August, 2026 election in the state.

The party’s position was contained in a press release signed by its State Chairman, Funso Timothy Fabiyi; and Secretary, Bolanle Abraham; who described the report as false, misleading and not emanating from the party’s authentic leadership.
The SDP said it was aware certain individuals had paraded themselves as party leaders, using its letterhead and unauthorised naming one Apostle Rotimi Oride as State Chairman, actions it described as deceptive and unrepresentative of its legally recognised leadership.
The party stressed that it had not adopted, endorsed or ratified any aspirant or candidate for the governorship poll, and urged the public, supporters and other stakeholders to disregard the publication, describing it as the handiwork of individuals pursuing personal and selfish interests.
The SDP reaffirmed its commitment to democratic principles, internal party processes and the rule of law, noting that its official position would only come through recognised channels and authorised representatives.
It urged the public to remain vigilant and disregard any unauthorised communication capable of misleading citizens and party members.
