Former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has lost her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, popularly known as Niyi, reports thegazellenews.com.

Thegazellenews.com reports that the late Niyi died on Wednesday, 5 August, 2026, in Lagos, at the age of 62.

His passing was announced in a statement issued on behalf of the Adeosun family by Reverend C.A. Adeosun on Thursday, 6 August , 2026, describing the late businessman as a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.

“It is with profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, that the Adeosun family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mr. Anthony Adeniyi (Niyi) Adeosun, who was called home to glory on Wednesday, 5th August 2026, in Lagos,” the statement read.

According to the family, Niyi lived a life defined by hard work, service to God and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. He is survived by his wife, Kemi Adeosun; his children; and his siblings, including Wale Adeosun, Founder of Kuramo Capital, alongside other family members, friends and associates now mourning his passing.

The family drew comfort from Scripture in the face of their loss. “Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the assurance of God’s Word: ‘Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them,'” the statement quoted from Revelation 14:13.

The Adeosuns have requested privacy during this period of grief, disclosing that funeral and Christian burial arrangements will be communicated in due course. They also thanked well-wishers who have reached out with prayers, condolences and support since the news broke.

“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences, and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement added.
