Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have denied entering any coalition or political alliance with any individual ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting their loyalty remains with the APC and its structures.

The Governors made the clarification at the end of their forum meeting in Abuja late Monday night, 14 September, 2026 Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, briefed journalists on the outcome, stressing that the governors had signed no formal agreement with any individual or opposition party ahead of the election, a position he said was necessary given recent remarks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Wike, a national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party currently serving in the APC-led Federal Government, has been championing a Rainbow Coalition movement in Rivers State in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The Minister, who has clashed with some APC Governors in recent months, alleged during a media chat that Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Uzodimma were behind his political troubles.

Wike attributed the Governors’ hostility to the growing national spread of his Rainbow Coalition, which he said had become a platform for politicians seeking to challenge the ruling party’s governorship and senatorial candidates in the next election, contrary to the governors’ interests.

Responding indirectly to Wike’s allegations and his moves to expand political influence across states, the governors resolved not to entertain any arrangement capable of creating confusion, divided loyalty or competing interests within the party.

Uzodimma, who read the communique, said the forum’s focus remained on supporting official APC candidates at all levels rather than promoting external interests.

“The APC Governors’ Forum unanimously resolved that its members will not participate in, support or endorse any alliance or political arrangement capable of undermining the re-election of Mr President, weakening the APC or adversely affecting any candidate of the party at all levels,” Uzodimma said.

“In other words, the forum has no intention to support any candidate at any level that is not an APC candidate, because our candidates contesting the election are sponsored by our party,” he added.

He said the governors’ campaign commitment remained exclusive to APC candidates, noting that all levels of the party’s campaign architecture would align with the expectations of the President and the strategic objectives of the party.
