‎The President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), who is also the Council Chairman, Dr. Ike Neliaku, fnipr, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, led a delegation from the Institute on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, and were received by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM.
‎
‎The visit, according to a statement by the Force spokesperson (FPRO), CSP Ani Iniedu, was to solicit the Nigeria Police Force’s security coverage for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum and Africa Charter Forum to be hosted by Nigeria.
‎
‎Billed to hold at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, the NIPR President, having commended the IGP’s professional accomplishments, used the occasion to invite the IGP to serve as a keynote speaker, and encouraged Police officers to participate as registered delegates.

‎The Forum, according to Dr. Neliaku, is expected to attract more than 3,000 delegates from 126 member countries of the Global Alliance for Public Relations.

Responding, the IGP noted that the Nigeria Police Force and the NIPR share a common responsibility to build public confidence through professionalism, transparency, fairness and effective communication.
‎
‎He emphasized that every Police officer is an image-maker of the Force, as the daily conduct of personnel directly shapes public perception of policing.
‎
‎The Police boss reiterated the Force’s commitment to policing by consent and a service-oriented policing culture founded on professionalism, empathy, accountability and respect for human rights.
‎
‎He called for NIPR support in providing specialized communication training for Police personnel and developing a coherent messaging framework to better project the sacrifices, dedication and contributions of Police officers to public safety and national security.
‎
‎The delegation included the African Public Relations Association Secretary-General, Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, fnipr; Dr. Suleiman Haruna, mnipr; Mr. Maryam Sanusi, fnipr; Mrs. Olubunmi Badejo, fnipr; Commandant Olusola Odumosu; Chief Uzoma Oyegbadu, fnipr; Chief Moji Makanjuola, MFR, fnipr; Mr. Stanley Ogadigo, fnipr; and other members of the delegation.
