A Nigerian woman has accused PWAN Real Estate Properties of holding N10.9 million of her money for two years without delivering the land she paid for or refunding her, a claim that has since drawn hundreds of complaints from other Nigerians alleging similar treatment by the company.
In a video that continued circulating online with reactions still trickling in as at September 2, the woman said she paid the sum to the firm in September 2024 for a plot of land.
Two years later, she said, she had received neither the property nor her money, despite engaging lawyers and reporting the matter to the police.
Speaking directly to the camera, she said the experience had taken a toll on her business and her life generally, and appealed to viewers to share the video so more people would see her story.
The clip, which had drawn over 1,173 comments, quickly became a rallying point for other Nigerians claiming to have been defrauded by the company or its affiliates.
Adeyinka Joshua wrote that more than N35 million belonging to them remained with PWAN, with nothing to show for it, a figure that left fellow commenter, ‘Everything by Mighty’ questioning why the affected buyers had stayed silent for so long.
Another user, Solite Poem, said N9 million was still outstanding, adding that a cheque issued to her under a “buy-back” arrangement, meant to refund her investment, had turned out to be fake.
A third commenter, _e4ma_A, said she had been defrauded of N4.2 million as recently as the previous month.
Pressed in the comments to name the entity responsible, the original poster’s account, run under the handle IGBALODE HAIR VENDOR, identified it as PWAN Max, an affiliate of the wider PWAN group.
Another commenter, writing as Tinted Of Owerri, described the company as one that issues receipts rather than actual land to its customers.
The allegations subsequently prompted calls for collective action among commenters. Blessing vivre said she had raised similar complaints under a post by the online whistleblower known as VDM concerning an unrelated arrest, and predicted that PWAN would face reckoning next.
Obioma urged Abuja-based victims to petition the Inspector-General of Police, while Oriehdis Dready recommended a formal complaint to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Opeyemiashabi580 directed victims to VDM’s office in Abuja for assistance, while adunofdunes recounted accompanying a friend to confront the company’s office in person, an approach that, according to the commenter, had previously secured a refund.
Registeredlunatic recalled that an earlier attempt to publicly expose the company had been met with backlash from its defenders online, a memory some commenters said now felt vindicated by the fresh wave of allegations.
As at press time, PWAN Real Estate had not publicly responded to the accusations raised against it and its affiliate in the comments under the video.
