The Lagos State All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship candidate in the 2027 election , Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has disclosed plans to fully engage with the youth and drive innovation when elected.
Hamzat made this disclosure during an interactive session hosted by the Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers recently.
The state Deputy Governor, answering questions from the audience of seasoned and young engineers alike, spoke at length on the importance of practical skills development in AI, robotics and other emerging technologies alongside vocational training and professional certification.
Under this scheme, according to him, the Lagos State government would provide 40 percent funding of apprentices’ stipends to encourage businesses to train young people in partnership with professional bodies.
He added that the skills and certification acquired will improve employability and access to finance.
Hamzat also promised to expand the capacity of the acclaimed Lagos State Science, Research and Innovation Council in supporting young innovators, through funding, investment and global exposure.
This way, he said, young entrepreneurs will be enabled to develop, commercialise and scale their innovations.
