Agege Celebrates ‘Special Independence’ as Opeifa, Ogundimu, Others Lead Grassroots Mobilisation For APC

It was a special Independence Day celebration for Agege people on Thursday, 1 October, 2026, as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr Kayode Opeifa; former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr Oluyinka Ogundimu led stakeholders in the Agege All Progressives Congress (APC) to commence massive grassroots mobilisation ahead the 2027 general elections

The occasion also served as the official campaign flag-off for the APC candidate for Agege State Constituency II in the House of Assembly, Honourable Shakiru Sule Enimakure.

On hand to show solidarity with his colleague was the Agege APC State Constituency I, Honourable Oluwagbenga Micheal Abiola popularly called Agbelebu who electrified the atmosphere with his oratory power, calling on voters to vote massively for the ruling party.

Speaking at the event, both Dr Opeifa and Ogundimu spoke highly of the candidates being presented for the elections noting that APC has the best candidates.

Speaking at the event, Opeifa stressed the importance of unity among party supporters, noting that sustained support for the APC would ensure continuity in governance and development initiatives.

He urged residents of Agege and its environs to remain steadfast and work collectively towards delivering overwhelming votes for the party at all levels.

According to him, ”We are at the top and we will continue to communicate with them at the top, we spoke to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he has assured us and asked us to continue the good work. Governor Sanwo-Olu also told us to continue. There is nothing like APM. The only party in Lagos is APC.”

Also addressing the gathering, Dr Yinka Ogundimu called on party members to commence door-to-door campaigns and community engagements to galvanise support for APC candidates.

He emphasised that the forthcoming elections would require coordinated efforts to secure victory for President Tinubu and other party flag bearers.

The event, which drew prominent APC figures, aspirants and massive crowd of APC members featured endorsements for candidates of the party as they affect Agege Federal Constituency.

They are: Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for President; Dr Kadir Obafemi Hamzat for Governor; Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule for Senate, Lagos West Senatorial District; RT Honourable Mudashiru Obasa for House of Representatives, Agege Federal Constituency; Oluwagbenga Micheal Abiola for Lagos State House of Assembly, Constituency I; and Sule Shakiru Enimakure for House of Assembly, Constituency II

Convener of the programme and House of Assembly hopeful for Agege Constituency 02, Shakiru Sule Akindele Enimakure, described the gathering as a strategic platform to unite party members and strengthen mobilisation efforts at the grassroots.

He noted that the Independence Day celebration was not only symbolic but also an opportunity to reinforce political awareness and participation among residents.

The colourful event featured cultural displays, music, games and community interactions, reflecting a blend of political engagement and festive celebration.

Party leaders at the event reiterated their commitment to ensuring a decisive victory for APC candidates, urging supporters to translate their enthusiasm into votes during the elections.

Dignatories present at the event were: former member of the House of Representatives for Agege Federal Constituency, Taofeek Abiodun Adaranijo; current member of the state House of Assembly for Constituency II, Honourable Jubreel Abdul Kareem; Olu of Agege Kingdom, Oba Kamila Oyedeji Isiba; and Alaige of Orile Agege, Oba Ambali Agbedeyi among others.
