Akpabio Names Yunus Akintunde Chairman of Senate Committee on Environment

The Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde has been named the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment, reports thegazellenews.com.

The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio announced the appointment on the floor of the Red Chamber on Monday, 7 August, 2023, while constituting standing committees for the 10th Senate Legislative Session.

The Oyo Central Senator is coming into the Senate with rich administrative experience.

He was Commissioner I in the Oyo State Civil Service Commission during the administration of Late Alhaji Lam Adesina and was briefly Chairman of Oyo West Local Government during the tail end of the administration of Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja.

Senator Akintunde was the Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transport during the first term of Administration of the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi whom he later served as Executive Assistant.

Senator Akintunde has hit the ground running in the Senate having his first motion adopted by the Red Chamber which culminated in the decision to shelf the propose hike in electiricty tariff.
