The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, in collaboration with members of the Peace and Security Committee, has issued a stern warning to youths against the use of “bangers” and other fireworks during the Christmas celebrations.
“The use of these dangerous items, which often causes panic, injuries, and unnecessary fear among residents, will no longer be tolerated within the local government area,” the Council Chairman warned.

The committee emphasized that anyone caught using bangers or similar fireworks will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. Likewise, sellers and distributors of these hazardous and explosive items will face strict sanctions, as their activities pose serious threats to public safety and communal peace.
In a further advisory, parents, guardians, and community leaders were urged to caution and closely monitor their wards to prevent acts capable of disrupting the peace of the season. Residents were also encouraged to celebrate responsibly and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies.
The Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the Alimosho Local Government administration to ensuring a peaceful, safe, and incident-free Christmas and New Year celebration for all residents.
