In a proactive step toward improving environmental hygiene, the Alimosho Local Government has strengthened its waste management capacity with the acquisition of a new refuse compactor truck under the leadership of the Chairman, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson.
The compactor is aimed at boosting efficient waste collection and disposal across the local government area, while tackling the challenge of indiscriminate refuse dumping. This development further supports Lagos State’s broader drive for environmental sustainability and urban cleanliness.
With the new truck now in operation, waste evacuation will be more effective across key locations, including major roads, markets, residential communities, and public spaces within Alimosho.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance sanitation standards and promote a healthier living environment for residents.
Commenting on the acquisition, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson emphasized that environmental cleanliness remains a central focus of his administration, stressing its importance to public health and overall development.
“This investment reflects our commitment to addressing waste management challenges in a practical and sustainable way. A clean environment is essential for the wellbeing of our people, and we are determined to improve service delivery in this regard,” the Chairman said.
He also called on residents to play their part by complying with approved waste disposal regulations, working with environmental officers, and embracing responsible sanitation practices.
The procurement of the refuse compactor underscores the Alimosho Local Government’s dedication to responsive governance and its resolve to create a cleaner, safer, and more livable environment for all residents.
