All arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of a hitch free Local Government Congress of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) taking place in the 20 local government areas of Lagos state.
The Congress scheduled to hold Saturday, 21 February, 2026, is expected to produce new 27-man executives to pilot the affairs of the party at each council level.

While speaking at the media briefing at the party’s Secretariat on ACME road ahead of the exercise, the Chairman of the Ward & Local Government Screening Committee, Honourable Nungji Salama said that they were delighted to be in the state since Lagos is the pacesetter adding it was an honour and privilege to conduct the assignment in a state that is home to Mr. President.
He equally urged all members of the party to remain peaceful and law abiding during the exercise noting that those not qualified at this time will have another opportunity next time.
According to him, he expected the Local Government Congress to be a rancour free exercise pointing there are indications that most executives will be returned on consensus basis.
Earlier, the Lagos APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi disclosed that the exercise will deepen democracy and strengthen the party.
He said that it was sacrifice for the committee to serve the party at this crucial period having left their homes to carry out the job for the party.
Hon. Ojelabi also appreciated the state technical committee for preparing the ground for the team from the National Secretariat Abuja to do a seamless exercise.
According to him, this is last stage of the exercise preparatory to the conduct of Local Government Congress tomorrow Saturday.
The party Chairman boasted that only the party invite INEC and allow the Media to monitor the exercise which is in line with the contents of the amendment to the Electoral Law congratulating those screened to participate in the Congress.
Ojelabi concluded that it was a call to service to drive the party pointing that the leadership cannot work in isolation as the youths and women cannot be left behind.
