Another Honour For Rasaq Ajala As He Bags NNRA/PENGSSAN’s ‘Grassroots Champion Award’

The immediate past Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Honourable Rasaq Olusola Ajala, on Thursday, 11 December, 2025, added another feather to his growing cap of achievements and honour when he received a grassroots award from the nation’s oil sector.

The Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA), Ministry of Petroleum Resources branch of the Petroleum & Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) bestowed the honour of ‘Grassroots Champion’ on the former Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA boss.

According to the organisers of the event, Ajala was honoured for his exemplary leadership and exceptional achievements while in office which stood him out among his peers.

“We conducted our survey around 26 councils in Lagos State and the result was an overwhelming victory for Ajala who stood out as an outstanding elected representative of the people with special empathy, compassion and feelings for the masses,” the organisers said in the citation of the former Chairman read at the event.

A lot of people-oriented programmes and projects were put in place during the tenure of Ajala as Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA.

He instituted the annual Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Sports Fiesta, constructed an ultra-modern council secretariat which is arguably the best in the state; constructed a mini-stadium for youths; instituted the Odiolowo/Ojuwoye traffic corps; initiated annual festive subsidized sales of Ileya rams and Xmas chickens; initiated annual Xmas packages for teachers, staff and security personnel in the LCDA; built health centers; initiated solar powered charging outlets across all the wards in the LCDA; constructed schools and roads among other notable achievements.

Presenting the award, the Director General/CEO of NNRA, Dr. Yau Idris praised Ajala for winning the award which he noted was as a result of his outstanding achievements in office.

He urged him to do more and wished him well as he continued his political journey on a higher pedestal.

Responding, Ajala expressed appreciation to the organisers for finding him worthy for the award.

He assured that he will strive harder to ensure the enhancement of the people wherever he finds himself.
