The Executive Chairman of Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented development, as he received members of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ijora Branch, during a courtesy visit to the council secretariat.
The delegation, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Jamiu Bello, praised the council chairman for his impactful leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of residents across religious, social, and community groups.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the society’s treasurer, Alhaji Isiaq Olomowewe, described Hon. Jimoh as a welfarist and reformist whose administration has continued to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Apapa Iganmu.
He commended the chairman’s people-centred programmes, particularly the distribution of food palliatives to residents across the LCDA without discrimination.
Alhaji Olomowewe also applauded Hon. Jimoh for facilitating the emergence of one of the society’s members as the Coordinator of the Apapa Iganmu Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), describing the gesture as a testament to the chairman’s commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment.
While appreciating the administration’s numerous interventions, the society appealed to the council chairman to consider providing pilgrimage slots for some of its members to perform the Lesser Hajj in the Holy Land of Mecca.
Responding, Hon. Jimoh thanked the delegation for the visit and their continued support for his administration, assuring them that his government remains committed to advancing the welfare and development of every resident of Apapa Iganmu.
The chairman highlighted education as one of the major pillars of his administration, revealing that the Olugbani Summer Classes Season 2 had recorded an impressive turnout of over 5,000 pupils by its second day.
According to him, participants in the programme will receive free exercise books, learning materials, and branded T-shirts to encourage learning and promote educational excellence.
“We have brought education to the doorsteps of our children by organising the Olugbani Summer Classes Season 2. We are going to give them free exercise books, books and T-shirts in order to encourage them to attend,” Hon. Jimoh said.
Beyond the summer programme, the council boss disclosed that his administration has facilitated admissions for qualified students from Apapa Iganmu into tertiary institutions across Lagos State.
He added that applicants who do not meet conventional admission requirements have also been promised into the newly introduced Railway Technology programme at Yaba College of Technology.
Addressing the request for pilgrimage slots, Hon. Jimoh reiterated his administration’s principle of fairness and inclusiveness, stressing that opportunities are extended to individuals based on merit and established processes rather than through associations.
He noted that his administration enjoys the support of numerous religious and community organisations across the LCDA and assured residents that every deserving individual would be given equal consideration irrespective of affiliation.
The chairman reaffirmed his resolve to continue building bridges across all segments of the community, maintaining an open-door policy that embraces every group while ensuring that development initiatives reach all residents.
He pledged to sustain programmes that promote education, youth empowerment, social welfare, and community development as part of his vision to take Apapa Iganmu LCDA to greater heights.
