Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, 7-up Team Up For Plastic Waste To Money Project

All roads led to the Palace of HRM Oba Abdufatai Oyeyinka Aremu Aromire, the Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom on Tuesday, 18 November, 2025, as Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area Chairman, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu team up with Seven Up Bottling Company to launch an environmental sustainable programme tagged ‘Plastic For Waste Product’.⁣
⁣
The partnership reinforces Hon. Jimoh’s commitment to a sustainable environment and ensure cleaner environment through plastic Buy-back Recycling Advocacy.⁣
⁣
The Initiative, is the birth of a circular economy where every kilogramme of plastic waste becomes money.⁣
⁣
Residents, who turned out in their large numbers in acceptance of the Initiative, expressed delight following the conversion of their waste plastic to money, with each kilogramme going for N800 instant cash payment.
⁣
‎Aside the cash payment, the enthusiastic participants also benefitted extra rewards, which include food items, beverages and Seven Up products.⁣

Speaking at the event, Hon. Saliu pointed out that a lot of people have became prosperous through the plastic waste for product, while most residents are not cognizance of it.⁣

The Council Chairman who informed that the company also buy plastics of other products, urged the residents to take advantage of the programme to boost their incomes and also sanitize the environment of plastic waste.⁣

The representative of the company highlighted that the event is part of the Sustainability Week of the Company, where it goes into different communities to bond with residents and take back plastic waste for resource.⁣

She disclosed that the programme is in partnership with groups which include Mohinani Sonnex Packaging Nigeria Limited, recycling and packaging company.⁣
