Wednesday, 23 July, 2025 marked a defining moment in the history of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), As the incoming administration of Honourable Jimoh Olawale Saliu held a seminar/workshop for the incoming councilors-elect of the the LCDA.
The event hosted by the Chairman-elect was held at the Tirple Three Luxury Hotel, was a first of its kind in the LCDA with a resounding success, drawing an impressive turnout of Apapa-Iganmu’s political luminaries, stakeholders, and councilors-elect.

The overwhelming attendance underscored the unifying spirit of the Chairman-elect, Honourable Jimoh Olawale Saliu, fondly called Alfa Wale, whose leadership has already begun with fostering harmony and collaboration across the LCDA

The Chairman-elect in his opening address set a compelling tone, urging the councilors-elect to absorb the wisdom shared during the sessions.

Urging attentiveness and dedication resonated deeply, laying a strong foundation for the day’s proceedings.
“This landmark event signalled the dawn of a transformative chapter in the governance of our beloved LCDA, setting the tone for the “OLugbani Agenda, ” a blueprint for progress, unity, and impactful leadership,”
he stated.
The event was not just mere gathering but a platform for learning, relearning, and preparing the incoming administration to deliver on the promises of the OLugbani Agenda.
The seminar/workshop was enriched with profound presentations from distinguished leaders, each offering invaluable insights to guide the councilors-elect in their legislative journey.
Honourable Olumuyiwa Jimoh, drawing from his decade-long legislative experience, delivered an inspiring presentation on leadership and decision-making. Giving practical legislative hints and providing a roadmap for the councilors-elect to navigate their roles effectively.
Similarly, Honourable Musibau Aina Lawal, a seasoned former Councillor and current Lagos State House of Assembly member for Apapa-Iganmu State Constituency 1, also shared critical insights, enriching the audience with his wealth of experience.
The outgoing Chairman of the council, Honourable Olufunmilayo Akande Muhammed, radiated joy and pride as she reflected on her enduring legacy.
Thanking God and sharing her heartfelt joy, celebrating a smooth transition to incoming administration of Honourable Jimoh Olawale Saliu, expressing confidence that Alfa Wale as he is fondly called would elevate the LCDA to new heights with a passionate advise for the councilors-elect to embrace unity and foster cooperation with the Chairman to deliver tangible benefits to their wards and the entire LCDA.
Honourable Kamorudeen Ojora, outgoing Legislative Leader/Speaker, inspired the councilors-elect with words of wisdom, sharing his wealth of experience with them and assuring them that the legislative chamber has been fortified with necessary reforms and standardization.

The Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Honourable Idowu Senbanjo, represented by the Leader of Apapa Local Government Legislative Arm, Honourable Fowowe, shared practical guidance drawn from his vast experience, further equipping the incoming legislators in their roles.
The event was further elevated by the contributions of Honourable Wale Babatunde, a permanent board member of the Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) and former House of Assembly and House of Representatives member.
He urged the councilors-elect to stay connected with their constituents, diligently perform oversight functions, and maintain unity for a prosperous Apapa-Iganmu.
Similarly, Honourable Olayemi Olabanji, Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority and a former legislator, delivered a stirring presentation on the virtues of loyalty and its rewarding outcomes, calls for closer governance and a united legislative front for a progressive government and leadership.
The Vice Chairman-elect, Honourable (Chief) Mrs. Fadekemi Otitonaiye, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the audience for their massive turnout, reinforcing the sense of community and shared purpose.
The LGA Party Chairman, Honourable Toyin Aweda, delivered a gracious vote of thanks, with Baba Abifarin closing the event with uplifting prayers, sealing the day with hope and optimism.
