APC Sweeps All 25 Chairmanship Seats In Niger LG Elections

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has recorded a clean sweep in the recently concluded  State Local Government Council elections, winning all 25 chairmanship positions across the state.

The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) officially confirmed the results, describing the polls as “credible, transparent, and reflective of the people’s will.”

The Commissioner for Operations, Mohammed Liman, who made this disclosure through a statement NSIEC said all Returning Officers had completed the collation and declaration of results in accordance with the Electoral Law and the Commission’s operational guidelines.

“After careful review, the Commission approved and ratified the results, confirming the duly elected chairmen and councillors who met all legal requirements,” Liman said.

APC candidates emerged victorious in all Local Government Areas, including Agaie, Bida, Kontagora, Lapai, Bosso, Chanchaga, Wushishi, among others. Newly elected chairmen include Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu (Agaie), Usman Mohammed (Bida), Mustapha Jibrin (Chanchaga), Lawal Yusuf (Kontagora), and Mohammed Lokogoma (Wushishi).

For the councillorship seats, NSIEC ratified results across 274 wards, with APC securing 271 seats. PDP won two councillorship positions, one each in the Tafa and Rafi Local Government Areas.

Liman congratulated all elected officials, urging them to uphold transparency, accountability, and service to their constituents.

He also announced that Certificates of Return would be presented to the newly elected officials on a date to be communicated to all stakeholders.

Following a disastrous start to the Serie A season, the management of Italian club side Fiorentina on Tueaday, 4 November, 2025 parted ways with club  head coach Stefano Pioli with immediate effect.

The decision comes after the Italian side failed to win any of their first ten league games, leaving the club languishing near the bottom of the table.

According to a  football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano X post on Tuesday, 4 November, 2025“Fiorentina have sacked their head coach Stefano Pioli with immediate effect, as expected. It’s over after zero wins in the first 10 Serie A games.”

Pioli, who was appointed Fiorentina coach in July 2025, was unable to turn around the team’s fortunes despite high expectations.

The club’s management described the move as necessary to revive Fiorentina’s campaign and emphasised that they are actively searching for a replacement who can steer the team back to competitiveness.

“ACF Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team.

“The club would like to thank him and his staff for the professionalism shown during their time at Fiorentina.

“Daniele Galloppa will take charge of the first team temporarily, starting from this afternoon’s training session,” the club stated on its X handle on Tuesday, 4 Novermber, 2025.
