The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dropped its National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that the decision to drop Ayu was taken by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to respect a decision of the Benue State High Court of Monday, 27 March, 2023 which stopped Ayu from parading himself as the National Chairman of the party.

Ologunagba announced further that the NWC has decided that Ayu be replaced by Ambassador Umar Katagum, Deputy Chairman, North.

Iyorchia Ayu was given the boot following his suspension by his ward in Benue State.

Thereafter a court barred him from parading himself as party chairman.

“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at an emergency meeting today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, acknowledge the Order of the Benue State High Court, dated March 27, 2023, with regards to the Chairmanship position of our great Party,” the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, said in a statement.
