The Gombe Division of the Court of Appeal, on Thursday, 22 February, 2024 upheld the conviction of Alhaji Idris Yahaya, Auditor General for Local Government, Yobe State. He was convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment on Monday, 13 March, 2023 by Justice Muhammad Lawu Lawan of the Yobe State High Court, after being prosecuted by the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a one count of criminal misappropriation of N19.900 million. Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Friday, 23 February, and Saturday, 24 February, 2024, arrested 36 suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects, comprising 35 males and 1 female were arrested at Sabo Kaduna and Narayi Highcoast and Layin Dogon Iche Samaru in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following credible information on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.
