The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has catered for the needs of people in the Niger Delta region in every aspect of life including the area of healthcare. Way back in May 2005, the NDDC went into partnership with Pro-Health International to provide free medical outreach at Primary Health Centre Enwang in MBO Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The importance of this medical outreach in the rural area cannot be overemphasized due to limited medical interventions in the area. During the intervention, both the young and the elderly were catered for from mild ailments to serious medical issues.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the foremost socio-cultural organization representing the Igbo people, has rejected the recent proposal by the House of Representatives to create 31 new states. The group denounced the proposal as lacking credibility and failing to meet the essential criteria for viable state creation. Commending the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon.
