Jigawa State Police Command has disclosed that no fewer than nine people lost their lives and four others injured following a violent clash between villagers and Fulani herders in Miga and Jahun Local Government Areas of the state. A Japanese woman, Tomiko Itooka, globally recognised as world oldest person, has died, aged 116. Ashiya, the city where she lived, announced her death on Saturday, 4 January, 2025. The southern city’s Mayor, Ryosuke Takashima, in a statement said Itooka, who had four children and five grandchildren died on Sunday, 29 December, 2024 at a nursing home where she resided since 2019.
