Chief Mrs. Mojisola Ayinke Badmus has pledged renewed commitment to grassroots development following her appointment and inauguration as Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), reports thegazellenews.com

She assured residents that the administration will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy.

Badmus made the pledge on Tuesday, 10 March, 2026 at the  Council Secretariat while speaking shortly after assuming office in Igando-Ikotun, Lagos State.

She described the appointment as both a call to duty and an opportunity to further serve the people under the administration of the council Chairman, Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, the newly appointed SLG said she felt honoured but also challenged by the responsibilities attached to the office.

“I feel glad and more challenged because it is an opportunity to serve my people once again,” she said.

She explained that the appointment represents a significant responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the development of the council area.

“This appointment is a charge and a call for duty. It is a responsibility and opportunity to serve the people of Igando-Ikotun LCDA and to ensure that Igando-Ikotun becomes better, especially during the administration of Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde,” she stated.

Speaking on her plans in office, Badmus emphasised that the current administration remains focused on continuity, noting that she had been part of the government from its inception.

According to her, the primary objective of the administration is to bring governance closer to the grassroots and ensure that residents truly benefit from democratic governance.

“This administration is about continuity. I was privileged to be part of this administration from inception, and the essence of coming into power is to bring the dividends of democracy closer to the people of Igando-Ikotun LCDA,” she said.

She added that beyond bringing governance closer to the people, the administration remains committed to ensuring that residents fully benefit from its policies and programmes.

“We want to ensure that the people get the dividends of democracy and sustain what we started since the inception of the first tenure. As I assume this new position, it is an honour to ensure we do it even better than before,” she added.

Highlighting her immediate priorities, the SLG said her focus would be on improving living conditions for residents across all sectors of the council area.

“My priority is to ensure that Igando-Ikotun becomes a better place to inhabit in all spheres of life whatever will make the people feel better, live better, be safe, be healthy and enjoy the dividends of democracy. That is what I am called for,” she said.

Badmus also pledged unwavering support to the council chairman in implementing policies and programmes aimed at advancing development within the LCDA.

“So help me God, like I said earlier, I will support Comrade Lasisi Akinsanya with all my capacity and capability in any area I am called to discharge my duty,” she said.

She described the Chairman as a listening leader who encourages ideas that promote development within the council.

“It is a good thing we have a listening chairman. Whenever I come up with ideas that will move Igando-Ikotun forward, he always keys into them. I will continue in that same pace and even better,” she added.

Looking ahead, Badmus said the administration would continue to align its programmes with the development agenda of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“We started following Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda and we have continued. I intend to continue in that same pace,” she said.

She also outlined key areas the council would prioritise in the coming months, including healthcare, security, environmental sanitation, women empowerment and youth development.

“We will ensure that healthcare in Igando-Ikotun becomes better. We will also ensure that the security of the people living in Igando-Ikotun becomes a priority for this LCDA,” she stated.

She further stressed the importance of maintaining a clean environment within the community.

“We will ensure that our environment becomes cleaner because a healthy environment is a wealthy environment,” she added.

Badmus also highlighted plans to strengthen economic opportunities for women and youth within the council.

“We will ensure that our women are empowered in their businesses and also help them manage those businesses. At the same time, we will continue to support our youth to ensure they become better citizens and prepare them to take over the affairs of Igando-Ikotun and Nigeria in the future,” she said.
