Former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kehinde Bamigbetan, has declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bamigbetan announced his decision in a statement issued to party stakeholders in Oshodi-Isolo II, where he formally presented himself as an aspirant for the forthcoming party primaries.
In the declaration, he aligned his ambition with the APC’s drive to consolidate on the Renewed Hope Agenda and secure another decisive victory in the constituency.
“As our great party prepares to consolidate on the Renewed Hope Agenda and secure another decisive victory in Oshodi-Isolo II, I humbly present myself as the most prepared and loyal candidate to deliver this crucial seat,” he said.
Consequently, Bamigbetan extended invitations to party leaders and supporters to attend the presentation of JAMB forms to 100 beneficiaries in Ejigbo, scheduled for Sunday, 22 February, 2026.
He described the initiative as a demonstration of his longstanding commitment to education and youth development.
“One of my track records in public service is education. I wish to invite you as Special Guest at the presentation of JAMB forms to 100 beneficiaries in Ejigbo on Sunday, February 22, 2026, as a taste of what to expect when I get the APC ticket, win the general election and become your Member, House of Representatives,” he stated.
Reflecting on his political journey, Bamigbetan emphasised what he called his loyalty and sacrifices for the party.
He recalled contesting in 2015 and 2023, noting that he stepped down on both occasions in the interest of party unity and discipline.
“I contested in 2015 and 2023. In both cases, I stepped down for the incumbents to run for second term in the interest of the party. I obeyed party directives and sacrificed my aspiration for the party,” he said, expressing confidence that such decisions would count in his favour as the primaries approach.
Furthermore, Bamigbetan cited his extensive public service experience as proof of his readiness for legislative responsibilities.
He pointed to his tenure as Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) from 2008 to 2014, which, according to him, provided firsthand exposure to grassroots governance and community needs.
Subsequently, he referenced his service as Chief Press Secretary to the Governor between 2005 and 2007, as well as his role as Commissioner for Information and Strategy from 2018 to 2019.
He said the positions sharpened his ability to communicate policies and defend government programmes effectively.
In addition, Bamigbetan highlighted his earlier experience as Special Assistant to Senator Segun Baju from 1992 to 1993 and his current assignment as Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.
He noted that these roles strengthened his understanding of the National Assembly and the workings of the federal civil service.
“These qualities are essential for advancing Mr. President’s agenda in the House,” he added.
Outlining his priorities, Bamigbetan unveiled a 10-point agenda anchored on party support, community development and economic empowerment.
He pledged to remit 30 per cent of his monthly salary to the party, with allocations to the local government, state and federal levels.
He promised quarterly grants to Community Development Associations within the constituency, alongside financial support for cooperatives, traders and artisans’ associations, including LASCOTA, and workers’ unions such as the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
He also committed to supporting ethnic and indigenous nationalities, while prioritising children, students and youths through targeted interventions.
In the same vein, Bamigbetan said he would institute quarterly constituency programmes to render progress reports of his activities in the House of Representatives.
He stressed the importance of attracting constituency projects aimed at tackling infrastructural decay, boosting business development and addressing social challenges across Oshodi-Isolo II.
On the legislative front, Bamigbetan pledged to collaborate with other representatives from Lagos and allied states to ensure the conclusion of the bill for the recognition of 57 local governments in Lagos State.
He also promised to sponsor new bills addressing national concerns and to organise bi-annual entrepreneurship programmes to promote self-employment and wealth creation.
Expressing confidence in his chances, Bamigbetan said his decades of engagement within Oshodi-Isolo II have given him what he described as “an unparalleled network and understanding of the electorate.”
“I am not only prepared for office, but first and foremost to win the general elections, and decisively too. I have the grassroots structure and personal goodwill to secure this seat for our party against any opposition,” he said.
He, therefore, sought the support and guidance of party leaders and stakeholders, reiterating his readiness to further discuss his plans.
Bamigbetan also restated his invitation to the JAMB forms presentation, saying he looks forward to the presence of party faithful and community leaders at the event.
