Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has expressed sympathy with the Journalists who were involved in the unfortunate road accident while on official assignment covering the commissioning of projects by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), on Friday, 6 February, 2026, in Bauchi State.

CAN, in a statement by the State Chairman, Rev Dr Abraham Damina Dimeus, which was made available to Journalists on Monday, stated that it is deeply saddened by the incident, which occurred in the line of their professional duty of service to humanity.
The Association further stated that, “We acknowledge the courage, resilience, and dedication of Journalists who continue to serve the public interest with commitment, often under challenging and risky conditions.”
It stressed that, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured Journalists and their families, and we sincerely pray for their speedy and complete recovery.”
The CAN also extended its solidarity to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Umar Saidu; the Correspondents’ Chapel; the affected media organisations—Channels Television, AIT, NTA, ARISE, BATV, BRC, and others—as well as the families and colleagues of those affected.
“We also commend the prompt and compassionate response of the Bauchi State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and others.”
According to the statement,”At this difficult moment, the CAN Bauchi State Chapter stands firmly with the media community. We pray that Almighty God grants healing to the injured, comfort to their families, and continued protection to Journalists and Media practitioners as they discharge their vital responsibilities to society.”
It then prayed, “May this unfortunate incident strengthen our collective resolve to promote safety, solidarity, and mutual support among all communication and media professionals.”
