Bauchi State First Lady, Hajiya (Dr) Aisha Bala Mohammed, has emphasised that the importance of peace and harmony among both religions of Christianity and Islam cannot be overemphasized.

This according to her, is because Islam and Christianity—the two dominant faiths in the society—share a common call for love, compassion, tolerance, and justice.
Aisha Bala Mohammed was speaking on Saturday, 13 September, 2025, at a meeting organised by her office with Christian religious leaders in the state aimed at fostering peace and peaceful coexistence in the State.

The First Lady stated that, “It is with great humility and a deep sense of responsibility that I stand before you today as both the special guest and the organizer of this noble programme.”

Aisha Bala Mohammed stated that, “This gathering marks the second phase of our peace initiative. Not long ago, we held a similar program for the Muslim Ummah, and today, by the grace of God, we continue with our Christian brethren. This continuity shows that peace is not the property of one religion, nor the desire of one community—it is the shared aspiration of all humanity.”
She stressed that,”The theme of our programme, “Seeking the Face of God for Righteous Living in Challenging Times”, is both timely and profound. We live in a world facing economic, social, and moral challenges.”
She added that, “In such times, we are called not only to seek solutions in human wisdom but to return to God in humility, in prayer, and in righteous living. For it is only in righteousness that peace can truly take root.”
According to her, “If we, as followers of these great religions, choose to work together, to understand one another, and to walk in harmony, then truly, we can build a society that reflects the will of God.”
“However, as we seek peace, we must also confront the ills eating deep into our communities. Today, our society is facing increasing moral decadence, a decline in values that once held our families and communities together,” She also said.
The First Lady stressed that, “Respect for elders, honesty, modesty, and accountability are being eroded. We see young people drawn away by negative influences—materialism, substance abuse, and a culture of violence.”
According to her, “Even more painful is the rising tide of sexual abuse and exploitation among our people. Our children and young women, who should be nurtured and protected, too often become victims of harassment, abuse, and violence.”
She added that, “This is a stain on our conscience as a people. We must raise our voices to condemn it, strengthen our families to prevent it, and demand justice for those who suffer from it. No society can prosper when its most vulnerable are unsafe.”
“Peace, therefore, is not only about ending conflict—it is about creating an environment where values thrive, where children grow in safety, where women are respected, and where righteousness guides our daily lives,” She stressed.
The First Lady called upon all—leaders, youths, women, and men—to become ambassadors of peace and righteousness stating,”Let us preach peace in our homes, our places of worship, our schools, and our communities. Let us show by example that Muslims and Christians can not only live side by side but can work hand in hand for the development of our state and our nation.”

She prayed that through gatherings like this,”we will soften hearts, heal wounds, fight immorality, and strengthen bonds of brotherhood. May God guide us to live righteously in these challenging times, and may He grant us the wisdom to always seek His face in all that we do.”
She concluded, “Together, let us be agents of peace, defenders of morality, protectors of the vulnerable, and seekers of God’s mercy.”
Earlier in his opening remarks, Chairman, Bauchi State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Dr Abraham Damina Dimeus, stressed the importance of peace and peaceful coexistence among the various people residing in the State.
Represented by the CAN State Secretary, Rev Matthew Laslimbo, the CAN Chairman commended the State Government for carrying everyone in the state along in the art of governance saying it was the first time of an all inclusive governance.
Abraham Dimeus lauded the First Lady for organizing the meeting which he said came at the right time when the situation of the country requires divine intervention by God.
The CAN Chairman assured that the Christian Community will continue to support the administration in all ramifications in order for the Governor to succeed.
