Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has described Accountants as relevant Stakeholders in Nation building particularly in matters of accountability and resources management for development.

The Governor was speaking on Tuesday, 14 October, 2025, while declaring open, the 5th Session of 2025 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (Mcpd) Programme of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), at the newl commissioned Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre in Bauchi.
Represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Auwal Muhammad Jatau, the Governor urged them to come up with workable solutions that would further enhance the financial capacity of the Country as they deliberate on national issues affecting their professional conduct.


The Governor also, commended ANAN for maintaining a consistent intellectual focus in its MCPD themes, particularly by aligning corporate value creation with public value management concepts.
Bala Mohammed emphasized that while the private sector drives productivity and profitability, the public sector’s true value lies in improving citizens’ welfare and ensuring equitable development.
He further noted that Bauchi State Government under his watch has implemented reforms to strengthen fiscal discipline, transparency, and inclusive growth, introducing a Citizens’ Budget and Accountability Reports to ensure every public expenditure translates into measurable outcomes that improve lives.
He disclosed that the choice of Bauchi State to host the meeting aligns with his Administration’s Vision And Mission of opening up the State for financial prosperity and economic growth
President and Chairman of Council, Association Of National Accountants Of Nigeria (ANAN), Zuwairat Talatu Kishimi lauded the developmental strides of Governor Bala Mohammed, most especially the befitting venue of the Ceremony, the New International Conference Center ICC.
She added that, “As Professionals we will continue to support and contribute our quota toward the financial growth and economic development of the Country.

In the keynote address, Zuwairat Talatu Kishimi, applauded the Bauchi State Government for its commitment to human capital and infrastructure development, describing the state as a hub of tourism and intellectual engagement.
The President highlighted the administration’s achievements in expanding education, promoting security, and improving the socio economic landscape initiatives, which she acknowledged, reflect value driven governance.
She explained that the theme of this year’s programme “Corporate Value Creation and Reporting” was carefully chosen to deepen understanding of how accountants can strengthen transparency, sustainability, and ethical reporting practices across sectors.
She emphasized that Public Value Management places professional accountants at the heart of good governance, particularly in areas such as budgeting, financial reporting, auditing, and risk management.
According to her, integrating Economic, Social, and Governance principles into accounting practices reinforces national transparency and demonstrates commitment to building a prosperous and equitable Nigeria.
The ANAN President also expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed, the people of Bauchi State, and security agencies for their hospitality and support toward the success of the event, while urging participants to be attentive and active throughout the sessions.

Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Aminu Hammayo, in his goodwill message, assured the Accountants that for the days they will spend in the State, Government has made provisions to make them comfortable far away from their homes.
The State Commissioner Of Finance, Dr Yakubu Adamu, represented by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Bauchi State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Usman Muazu among others presented goodwill messages, describing the turn out as impressive.
Bauchi State Accountant General, Alhaji Sirajo Jaja, in his welcome address, appreciated all the participants for finding time to come to Bauchi for the conference inspite of the current situation in the country.
He stressed that It would no doubt open another window of partnership and collaboration between ANAN and State for sustainable growth and development, appreciating Governor Bala Mohammed for the support.
