Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Bauchi State Governor and National Leader of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bala Mohammed, on Monday, 7 September, 2027, warned political opponents not to underestimate Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, reports thegazellenews.com.
Makinde, who is serving his second term as governor of Oyo State, is among the emerging political figures being positioned ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
Mohammed handed down the warning on Monday, 7 September, 2026 during the inauguration of the APM presidential campaign office in Abuja, where he declared that the party was prepared to “reset Nigeria” with Makinde as its presidential candidate.
The governor described Makinde as one of the best talents Nigeria has produced at the sub-national level, saying his achievements in Oyo State demonstrated his ability to manage resources and deliver development.
“Whoever disregards us are at his or her own peril. We are here to reset Nigeria and we are bringing in one of the best human capitals that Nigeria has ever produced at the sub-national and national level, that is Makinde,”
Mohammed said, just as he also urged Nigerians and other presidential contenders not to underrate the Oyo governor, predicting that they would be surprised by his political strength and capacity.
“I don’t want Nigerians to underrate him, especially the candidates, and they would see the wonders of the world,” he said.
Bala Mohammed praised Makinde’s record in Oyo State, describing him as a “mobiliser, a manager of resources and an engineer per excellence” who has transformed areas that had suffered neglect before his administration.
The APM leader, Makinde achieved significant development despite limited resources, particularly through urban renewal projects across the state.
According to the Governor, the opening of the campaign office showed the party’s seriousness ahead of the 2027 election, adding that the party was focused on presenting Nigerians with a new direction.
