As part of its commitment to addressing professional misconduct within the force, Bauchi State Police Command has taken disciplinary action against 18 personnel.

The state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, made this disclosure  while briefing newsmen on the performance of the Command in the year 2024, at the Command headquarters.

According to the CP, the efforts led to the recovery of N784,000 from officers found guilty of misconduct, while the recovered funds were returned to the affected victims.

Among the actions taken, one Police constable was dismissed, four officers had their ranks reduced, six personnel received warning letters, and four others were reprimanded.

Auwal Musa also commended the role of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU), which operates within the Police Public Relations Department, adding that the unit has been instrumental in handling public complaints regarding misconduct by officers.

The police commissioner, who disclosed that the CRU received ten complaints in 2024, all of which were thoroughly investigated,  reaffirmed the command’s dedication to enforcing discipline and ensuring accountability within its ranks to foster public trust and enhance service delivery.

“A total of eighteen personnel have undergone internal disciplinary measures, demonstrating our dedication to maintaining high operational standards.

“This includes the dismissal of one Police Constable, rank reductions for four officers, issuance of warning letters to six personnel, and reprimand for four others,” the CP stated.
