Bayelsa Deputy Governor Slumps, Dies

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is dead, reports thegazellenews.com

He was aged 60.

Ewhrudjakpo was said to have died after he collapsed in his office in Yenagoa and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in the state capital on Thursday, 11 December, 2025.

It was gathered that the Deputy Governor, who slumped in his office at about 1:30 p.m., was moved into the hospital’s emergency department.

The Deputy Governor’s media aide, Doubara Atasi confirmed the development but declined to give details.

Hospital sources disclosed that Ewhrudjakpo died after efforts to revive him in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) failed.

Born on September 5, 1965, Ewhrudjakpo has served as the deputy governor of Bayelsa State since 2020.
