Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio has emerged President of the Senate for the 10th Assembly.

He defeated another former Governor, Abdul Aziz Yari by 63 to 46 votes at a keenly conducted election at the Red Chambers this morning, Tuesday, 13 June, 2023.

Akpabio was nominated by Senator Alli Ndume while Yari, former Zamfara Governor, by Senator Yaro Abo.
