The dreaded Awawa cultists who have been terrorising residents of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government and Ojokoro Local Council Development Area for the past one week, have now extended their operations to Agege LG and Orile Agege LCDA.
The Gazelle News.com reports that the Awawa boys in multitude storm Agege on Sunday, 12 April, 2020 and operated from Agbotikuyo down to Dopemu.
“They were wielding dangerous weapons like axe, machete, cutlass and others and robbed people right from Agbktikuyo down to Balogun Ilawe and Bashorun streets down to Baale area in Dopemu,” a resident told The Gazelle News.com.
According to our source, many people have been injured and many were robbed of money and personal belongings.
“We are now living in fear and we cannot even enter our house to sleep for fear of attacks by these hoodlums,” another resident who lives in Shitta Street told our correspondent.
The Gazelle News.com spoke with Mr Rotimi Sulyman, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Agege LG boss, Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi.
He confirmed that the Chairman had contacted security agents and that the problem is well under control.
“The Chairman has been inundated with calls on the activities of the cultists and he immediately went into action. He has informed security agents and the police by the time you report this, would have been on the streets parading the areas,” he said.
Sulyman stated that in addition, the chairman has called for an early emergency security meeting for Monday, 13 April, 2020.
