Osimhen was substituted in the first half of the match against Rwanda on Saturday, 6 September, 2025 and it was confirmed on Sunday, 7 September, 2025 that he will not take part in the make or mar World Cup qualifier with Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, 9 September, 2025.
